The most visible figure of the Wah Wah Wino collective, which is based mainly in Dublin and which has given us some of the freshest and most out-of-the-box music produced in Europe since they started out just a few years ago. Almost everything about WWW is half enigmatic and post-referential, with a lot of names that obscure the origin of the projects and the participants, and our Davy is the only one who uses his real name. He released ‘Short Passing Game’, a good-vibe bomb in the shape of an LP (which sold out in no time, like almost everything the collective produces, and which has since been re-released). ‘Short Passing Game’ is something glorious, where Jon Hassell, Neu, Arthur Russell or Weather Report intersect in a light-filled jam-session. In 2019, after a year and change working on it, he put out the maxi ‘The Pilot’, which feels like Terry Riley and John Cale’s ‘Church of Anthrax’ made post-‘E2-E4’ by Manuel Göttsching. The B-side works other timbres in a half-dubwise deconstruction made up of good reflexes and unpretentious ideas. This is a premiere, in Portugal, presented in a trio formation.
